At East Neuk Outdoors we have a range of Kayaking and Open Canoeing options for all ages and abilities. All our paddlesport sessions include an instructor and watersports equipment.

Tidal Pool

Opposite the centre is a sheltered Tidal Pool which once served as a swimming pool in the Victorian era. It is a safe environment with shallow water and easy to access sides. Great for starting off on the water or brushing up skills.

Tidal Pool session are available on a 1½ hour session or ½ day session. (Longer sessions available, see price list for more details.)

Age: approx 3 years plus depending on buoyancy aid availability.

Paddle Power Courses for young people

Are you aged 16 or under and looking for a fun and exciting award while developing your kayaking and canoeing skills? Look no further…Paddlepower Awards have been designed especially for you! You can work your way through the different levels one after the other, or start at the level you or your coach feel suits you best. Either way, you get a certificate when you’ve finished the course.

During each level you will get to learn a variety of canoeing skills and challenges and improve your knowledge – all in a fun and flexible way! This is a national scheme with British Canoeing, full information can be found here: www.britishcanoeing.org.uk

Sea Kayaking

From the centre we can access the sea and tour the south coast of Fife in our touring and sea kayaks. Crail, Anstruther and Pittenweem are close by and make a great trip after a skill session in the tidal pool.

Trips are available on a ½ day or day basis with evening sessions also available on the Firth of Tay from Wormit and Newport On Tay. Some kayaking experienced is required depending on the length of the trip. Please contact for details.

Loch Kayaking and Open Canoeing

Scotland’s lochs are best seen from the water! We offer day trips and multi day trips on some of Scotland’s most picturesque and stunning lochs. We have a variety of touring kayaks and open canoes available allowing you to get on the water straight away, no experience required, all instruction is included! We use Loch Tay, Loch Tummel, Loch Venacher and Loch Ard to name a few.

River Kayaking and Open Canoeing

The rivers in Scotland offer meandering flows, white water excitement and seemingly endless journeys. This year we are offering a variety of courses on the River Tay and River Spey in kayak and open canoe. From one day river trips to five day expeditions on the River Spey, we’ve got it covered!

These trips are suitable for all. In bad weather or too much water in the rivers, some routes may have to be re-directed for the safety and well being of the group. This trip is suitable for all abilities but the minimum age for these trips is 13 years old.

Day Trips:

  1. River Tay Ballinluig to Dunkeld Open Canoe - Full day
  2. River Balvaig Loch Voil to Loch Lubnaig Open Canoe or Touring Kayak - Full day
  3. River Tay Isla mouth to Stanley Open Canoe or Touring Kayak - Full day

All the above day trips would require a wee bit of paddling experience. Contact us for taster sessions in open canoes and kayaks!

White Water Taster days

Paddling Scottish White Water rivers in Kayak or Open Canoe offers excitement and challenge. Using The River Tay area we are offering one day White Water taster sessions where you can learn moving water skills and kayak, canoe or swim exciting fun filled rapids! Some paddlesport experience would be preferred, please contact us for more information.

Multi Day Expeditions

This year we are running several multi day expeditions. We will be using Loch Tay from Killin to Kenmore and the Classic bucket list River Spey expedition from Aviemore to Spey bay.

Loch Tay - Fri eve to Sunday afternoon, 2 nights wild camping.

A great flat water trip down Loch Tay in the shadow of Ben Lawers camping on an Island and at the old village of Lawers on the north shore.

No experience is needed and this trip can be in Open Canoe or Touring Kayak. Camping experience and equipment would be required (please contact for equipment hire). All watersports equipment, barrels, dry bags, instruction/guiding are provided.

River Spey - 4 days/3 nights camping on Speyside Way campsites (water and toilets available)

A ‘must do’ trip for open canoeing! The River Spey runs down through Aviemore, into the Speyside Whisky country ending at Spey Bay near Fochabers. The Spey has many great fun rapids, peaceful flat water or slow moving sections and of course majestic views of the cairngorm area.

Some paddling and camping experience would be ideal to get the most from this expedition, please contact for more info. Each day we will be paddling for around 4 to 6 hours staying at 3 Speyside Way campsites as we descend the river. All watersports equipment, barrels, dry bags, instruction/guiding are provided.
